Defibrillator Drone Wants to Save Your Life

A collaboration between MTI and the Russian company Altomedika, the drone has a range of 31 miles and can carry a little over 6.5 pounds. That's enough to make the drone viable in an urban area and carry everything necessary for a cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

For the cardiopulmonary resuscitation itself, a human would still be needed to perform the actual act. A person would connect the electrodes and then obey directions given to them by the drone, either on a screen or through voice prompts.

Hypothetically such a drone could reach a medical emergency faster that an ambulance stuck in traffic, and a passerby could find courage within themselves to learn how to use a defibrillator, which delivers up to 400 joules of electricity, on the spot.

Considering how drones are entering the world of vaccines and transferring lab tests, it seemed like only a matter of time before they start providing healthcare directly.
